We first learned about David from a friend who hired him to reconstruct a log cottage for her. She was pleased with his work and recommended him to us for a renovation project we were planning. In the spring of 2011, at our first meeting with David to discuss our plans for a sunroom addition and outer deck, we were impressed by his willingness to listen to our ideas about what we envisioned as the final project. He was patient with us, offered suggestions, gave practical advice, as well as ways to help cut costs. He was very generous with his time, and met with us on several occasions to share his knowledge and explain the work involved at every step. We felt reassured and confident that he was the right person for the job based on his years of experience, his strong communication skills, his keen eye for aesthetics, his ability to assemble a stellar team of tradespeople, his understanding of what it takes to build a sound structure, and his obvious passion for the work.
It has now been about two and a half months since the actual construction of our project began. And our opinion of David has not changed. In fact, we have learned just how skilled a craftsperson he really is. Everything has gone really well, thanks to his competence at interpreting the architectural plan, estimating the construction costs involved, and bringing the design to fruition. David has excelled at directing and working alongside his colleagues, coordinating the flow of work with the delivery of materials, and bringing other tradespeople on site when required during the process. Throughout the entire project, he has maintained a high standard of workmanship, communicated with us on every aspect of the job, and meticulously reviewed bills from the supplier to ensure their accuracy. On the latter point, he personally returned unused materials and obtained a credit for us. Overall, he has kept the budget in check and performed the work within the set time frame.
Lastly, we would highly recommend David Lyman for building any project, and we would welcome him back to do more work for us. His character strengths are many: personable, jovial, intelligent, innovative, hardworking, honest, respectful, reliable, and responsible. We are sure that David will continue to make valued contributions in any area of work that he chooses. We enclose several photographs of our project that aptly illustrate his competency.
